First time eating baby food! PEAS!!! He loves it!
By the end of the night my little bug is so tired he can barely make it through his bottle. I've been SERIOUSLY blessed with such a good sleeper. When he's ready for a nap, he's ready for a nap. He also sleeps 10-12 hours every night. We sure do love our little 4 month old!

CHRISTMAS SEASON!

12/22/2012
This holiday season has been so wonderful! I can't believe how magical it is to have a baby during the season, even though he doesn't quite understand it yet, it sure was a different feeling this year!

At Grandma and Grandpa Givan's annual Christmas party Tate got to sit on Santa's lap... and look, no tears! ha ha ha... we'll give it until next year before we brag.
My grandparents are always doing such wonderful things for our family. And the family has gotten HUGE!!! So this year I was thinking to myself... I've never seen grandma and grandpa sit on Santa's lap. So as a family we decided to have Santa bring them a gift this year. Look how cute they are sitting on the jolly man's lap!

Just to tell you how much these people do for us. When all the kids were allowed to open their presents, we were all anxiously awaiting them to open theirs... but they were in the kitchen making root beer floats for everyone. It took multiple tried to get them to let someone else do the work so they could enjoy their gift from Santa.

They got a new train for their beautiful village they have under their tree. We had heard grandpa raving about this train set that blew real steam the week before, so we passed the word along to Santa. Grandpa loved it. Once most of the crowd was gone, grandpa and Cory got it out and put it on the tracks and just sat and watched it go round and round. In Cory's words, " Its like a camp fire, you just get lost in watching it."
Here is Tate opening his gift from Santa. Its a toy to put on his car seat!
I was really surprised at how excited he was. He was fascinated with it!

I had the stuff to do my homemade Christmas gifts since Thanksgiving weekend and they just sat and sat and sat until the day before Christmas Eve, and my family was giving the gifts Christmas Eve. Talk about real Bateman procrastination.

It wouldn't have been SO bad if I didn't have to put 6 together!

12/24/2012
Since Cory had to work Christmas Eve, and we were spending the night at my families and then traveling up to his families, we decided to have our own Christmas together on Christmas Eve. This was the BEST idea ever! We both had so much fun. We seriously woke up at 7 am because we couldn't sleep any longer. The picture above is Stockton with his new toy! He's pretty funny with presents. He unwraps them and everything!

I got Cory the same train set that we picked out for Grandpa Givan. If you could have seen his eyes as we looked at those trains you would understand why this was such a great present for him! He had that thing put around the tree lickity split!

Cory surprised me as well by getting me my first pair of diamond earrings! I love them! I haven't taken them out since I got them.
Tate and I spent Christmas Eve at my families house while Cory was busy keeping the streets of Springville safe. Here is Tate in his new Christmas jammies! He is such a cutie!
And here are all of the grandchildren in their jammies! Can you believe how many there are now? And look at TAYLOR!!! He'll be 17 this year! CRAZY
12/25/2012
This is what we woke up to Christmas morning! Tate banked! He must have been a really good little boy. There's something he wants, something he needs, something he'll wear, and something he'll read!
Look how excited he was to get his new football! I love this picture!
And I just had to share this picture of Harley. When we told her to go and check to see if Santa had eaten any of the cookies, she got super mad and her exact words were..." I told Santa he could have ONE cookie!!! He ate them all!"
We drove up to Cory's parents and spent the rest of our break with them. We got really spoiled there and had a lot of fun playing a new game called TENZI. I of course didn't get any pictures there, but hey... I am getting better at making sure to take more pictures everywhere I go. Next year I'll make sure to get pictures at every stop. We are truly blessed and enjoyed spending this holiday season celebrating the Saviors birth as a new little family. I hope that you all had a great Christmas as well!

The Nursery

I spent a lot of time worried about the nursery. I mean A LOT of time. My brother in law was living with us until July and didn't move his stuff out until August, just one month before my due date. Everyone kept telling me, as long as you have a car seat and diapers, that baby will be fine. But for whatever reason in my crazy pregnant mind, I would be a bad mom if his nursery wasn't ready for him the day he came home. SO... Labor day weekend, the weekend before Tate was born, my doctor told me that he didn't want me traveling to Grover and that I needed to stay home and relax. So we stayed home, but there was no relaxing. We worked on, and finished, Tate's nursery. And it was ready for when we brought him home. But guess what I found out? All that mattered is we had a car seat and diapers.
I love a lot of different things in this picture. I love that old rocking chair! It might be one of my favorite things in that nursery. It belonged to Tate's great great grandmother Viola Bauer. I also love the blanket draped on that old rocking chair. Tate's great grandmother Aileen Givan hand made that for him. I should make his grandmother Denise make a pillow or something for it and then I could make something and it would be four generations of love right in his nursery.

Also, Tate's great grandmother Nelda Israelsen made him the curtains!
I've already dedicated a whole blog to this beast of a dresser. Another thing and I just HAD to HAVE. But even now that I realize that it doesn't matter that much, I love this thing because Cory worked so hard on it for his little baby!
And the crib! My dad is seriously the best. My crazy pregnant self asked him to make my baby a crib. I had it all picked out and gave him the picture. For months my amazingly talented dad thought about how to make it work. And as the months, and then the weeks, and then the days got closer... he finally came to me with this crib. He bought it for us (so nice) because he just couldn't get himself to make the crib, there are so many regulations and dangers that he just didn't want to have any problems with our brand new baby and his crib. I LOVE this crib! And whats even better than that, baby Tate loves his crib. He has been sleeping in his crib since the day we brought him home.
And these are the bumpers that my mom made. I come from very talented stock... I don't have a lot showing for it! ha ha ha!

Just a little thought!

So its Saturday and I finally have a second to update my blog and I was thinking to myself... especially now that I've returned back to work full time... how do single moms do it? SERIOUSLY??? I am so blessed to have such a wonderful full time job. I am so blessed to have a husband who has a full time job that he loves. I am so blessed to be a mom to the cutest baby around. But our life has seriously been GO GO GO with everything that once came pretty routinly to us. I'M GIVING A SHOUT OUT TO SINGLE MOMS AND DADS WHO DO IT ALL THEMSELVES!!! My prayers are with you!

Thanksgiving 2012

I really love this time of year! I love fall and the crisp air! I love the clothes for fall! I love that family gets together so frequently! And of course I love the FOOD! This year for Thanksgiving it was a tad different. Cory is now a police officer and has police officer hours. We really got lucky that he didn't have to work until 10pm on Turkey Day, and he's weekend was Tuesday and Wednesday of that week. So we loaded into the car after I got off of work on Tuesday afternoon and went and spend some time in Preston with Brad and Sheila. We had a good time of playing with the baby, watching old movies, napping, chatting, Big J's!, Just Dance 4, Nitro Circus, Duck Dynasty, and great food! We are really blessed to be able to go up there and get away from everything and relax. Thursday Thanksgiving dinner was being held at Lynn and LeeAnne's church in Logan. The food was delish and the basketball and Frisbee playing was seriously just what I needed. Thanks for Cory's cousin  Holly for letting me dump Tate on to her so that I could play for an hour! On our way home we decided to stop by Grandma Gavan's for pie and meet up with my family. Within 15 minuets Cory got a call from dispatch saying that he was actually signed up to work at Walmart from 6-10 and then start his shift patrolling at 10pm. So being 45 minutes away, Cory took off leaving me and the baby! Somehow he got home, got changed, and got to work within the hour! WHAT A ROOKIE! ha ha ha, just kidding. It was nice to be able to chat with the Givan side of my family for a little while rather than having to rush out the door. The next morning Tate and I went down to Grover to get our Christmas tree. It worked out pretty nice for us since Cory was going to be working so much that weekend. But we sure did miss him! I am SO GRATEFUL for Grover! Its the best place for me to go and be able to forget about all of my stresses and headaches. We got to eat lots of food, go for a few walks, play with cousins, chat with Sarah Karen and Mom, and of course cut down CHRISTMAS TREES! When we were about to Payson on our way home I started remembering last year and the PLUMBING DISASTER that we came home to after Thanksgiving! I said a little prayer that all was well at the condo...prayers are answered! I didn't get very many pictures, but I thought that I would share the two that were my favorite!

This is Grandpa Kevin with a few of his grandkids under the Christmas tree looking up at the lights before they got to decorate it. He is such a great grandpa and friend to his grandkids!
This is Tate and I! This is one of my favorite times with him. I love that I have a picture of it so that when he's older I can look back and remember these cuddle times.
